Since the beginning of my Mixed-Methods research in 2007, I have been gathering a great deal of information regarding the video game world and industry, from many different methodologies and perspectives.
This information ranges from technical, artistic, phenomenological, ontological, psychological, behavioral, moral, ethic, cognitive, spiritual, physical, cultural, ethnological, social, educational, institutional, and commercial aspects.
Besides collecting different qualitative and qualitative data from 6 different methodologies, I have been constantly tracking data from other sources, which are used to add, compare and contrast the overall research data.
Video game conferences & events recently attended:
Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2008 in San Francisco, CA Wired NextFest 2007 in Los Angeles, CA GameWorks entertainment complex in Las Vegas, NV GameStop and Frys’s in Pleasant Hill, CA - occasional visits Games + Learning + Society 2008 conference in Madison, WI - presenter Siggraph 2008 in Los Angeles, CA Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2008 in Austin, TX Meaningful Play 2008 conference in Lansing, MI - presenter
I have also been gathering data from various sources such as:
Specific websites. Subscription to different online discussion groups and mailing lists. Blogs and RSS. Daily news in various media. Periodic interviews with different experts in the video game industry. Subscription to many video game magazines. Movies and documentaries about the video game world and industry.
Besides that, I have been researching new and emergent virtual reality technologies & interfaces, and (as expected...), "action-researching"several video games!!!
